DUBAI’S FASHION HOTELS: Facts or Fiction

May 22nd, 2011 · No Comments · Celeb's/Gossip

These days Dubai is in the center of fashion attention. Stories about fashion hotels and celebrities are flying around making us wonder which part of it is true… Or all of it is just a good old marketing trick.

Famous hotel heiress Paris Hilton is in town as we speak, hosting OKKU‘s second birthday and doing photo-shoots for local fashion magazines. It is really the last moment for Paris to stop partying and get her hands on designing.

At the same time Michel Adam, president of Fashion TV signed an agreement for a hotel project with Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Al Habtoor Group. The five-star hotel‘s exterior will broadcast Fashion TV highlights round the clock via 100-meter LED screen.

The 200 rooms will be equipped with the most sophisticated technologies, will have access to Fashion TV’s 30 channels, as well as to the biggest Fashion DVD library in the world, offering 50,000 DVDs on the history of fashion. It will also include a wide variety of restaurants, lounges, nightclubs, spas and cinemas.

Then just a couple of months ago the ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum personally wrote to Victoria Beckham and supposedly offered her jaw-dropping £25 million to design a luxury ‘fashion hotel’ at the Isla Moda (one of the World islands). Her decision is still unknown, but since she’s expecting a fourth baby while being busy with her own fashion label I seriously doubt it.

And finally, Elie Saab famous Lebanese designer will design a boutique hotel bearing his name at the Tiger Woods Dubai complex in Dubailand. “The interiors will be a reflection of my personal lifestyle,” said Saab. The AED 600 million hotel will include 89 suites, 14 bungalows and a 10,000 sq. ft. swimming pool. His associate on the job will be no one else but Brad Pitt! He doesn’t have any architectural education yet, but “architecture and design are his lifelong love” (I always knew he was the one for me!)

After Versace, Armani, Gucci, Christian Lacroix and Bvlgari I can’t see how Dubai can get any better!
