The label “Catherine Membré“ is named after its creator.

Born in Paris, Catherine Membré has always had a passion for manipulating, touching, looking at, and combining fabrics. At an early age, her grandmother introduced her to sewing, and it was with her aunt, a trained tailor, that Catherine made her first creations in Paris. Having completed her university studies, Catherine embarked on a ten-year adventure to London, where, among other things, she worked in the world of contemporary art. Setting aside the seam, she almost forgot her passion, but confronted with an artistic environment, she felt the need to create again.When Catherine’s son was born in 2006, she returned to the city where she had grown up – Annecy, the little Venice of the French alps. There, she started to sew again and gave free rein to her imagination. In 2009, she decided to take her hobby more seriously and created the atelier with her Italian partner.

Vehla bag: The concept

With her first collection, the designer paid tribute to London, setting her heart on Liberty cotton, an English landmark. Not only is Liberty cotton of reliably high quality; it is also strong and beautiful. And because every bag “must be as beautiful inside as outside”, the Vehla bag’s lining is made with silk, known for its strength and remarkable brilliance.

For spring-summer 2011, the Atelier introduces more summery prints and retains its combination of Liberty cotton/silk that, in only a few months, attracted the enthusiasm of many bloggers.

The Vehla bag was designed by its creator to be practical, robust and refined. Always carried, in case of need, it’s the old concept of the supermarket bag, but dressed with class and lightness.

- The Vehla bag is practical. Standard size, neither too large nor too small, it folds onto itself in its small internal pocket. It can be transported easily in a handbag or slipped into the pocket of a jacket.
- The Vehla bag is also robust, thanks to the properties of its materials, carefully chosen by Catherine Membré.

The Vehla bag was designed so that it is both elegant unfolded and worn on the shoulder or folded on itself, to accompany a nice handbag. Because once the bag is folded, it resembles a precious shiny little envelope that makes it very attractive. With simple, clean lines and soft, natural materials, it combines elegance and strength, and, despite its fine materials, has a solid structure. It’s a modern bag that is luxurious and will last. A new classic.
