On Wednesday night luxury department store Saks Fifth Avenue in Dubai showed its new face stating that it is not only an exquisite retail space but an art ‘gallery’ as well. Important personas from the city’s cultural and fashionable worlds gathered together to witness charming date between fashion and art named ‘Fashion x Art @ Saks Fifth Avenue’.
‘Fashion x Art @ Saks Fifth Avenue’ is unique presentation of works by local artists Khawla Al Marri and Khaled Al Sharaan in a creative window installation inspired by the urban-scapes of New York & Dubai. After you’ve seen and admired artistic window designs, a number of funky installations awaits you on both levels of the already amazing store.
Khaled Al Sharaan is an independent Jordanian artist. He recently launched his byKAL line of couture furniture catering to those who appreciate the eccentricities of art and style.

I love these classical chairs in Khaled’s contemporary interpretation. Each piece is designed to be a center piece of any modern and even minimal interior. Will keep in mind when designing next fancy villa or apartment!

Khawla Al Marri is an independent Emirati artist from Dubai. Khawla specializes in Pop-Art. Her art takes inspiration from all that’s cultural; a mélange of movies, fashion, music and thoughts creating unique canvases that are enthused from the region.
It would be great if Dubai had a street art district where Khawla and other young artists could express themselves in urban space scale. Her work I can see standing next to some of the names like Banksy, Space Invader, Obey and other urban artists of our time … #justsaying.
You better hurry up to see the work of Khaled and Khawla, shop some fashion and tell your friends about it ’cause I don’t know for how long the exhibition will be on…
