Galeries Lafayette at The Dubai Mall, one of the UAE’s largest department stores, will be taking nine fashion forward people from Dubai to an unforgettable Paris experience – the Le Plus Grande Defille Du Monde. The event, literally translatable as the Largest Fashion Show in the World, held annually by Galeries Lafayette Paris, will for the first time include nine fashionistas from Dubai as part of the ‘Fashion is You!’ campaign.
The nine fashionistas participating in the third edition of the world-famous celebration of fashion will be offered a paid trip to Paris to strut their stuff at the epicentre of the fashion world. Castings and selection will occur at the Galeries Lafayette store in Dubai Mall, with all interested participants showing up in items from their own wardrobe representing their unique sense of style. The contestants will be shortlisted by a jury of Galeries Lafayette and its partners, and then chosen via votes on social media.
The fashionistas will be chosen from June 1st to 3rd at Galeries Lafayette at the Dubai mall from 3 to 8pm daily. Candidates will showcase their stylistic creativity across four categories – Morning Urban, Tea Party, Cocktail Time, and Birds of the Night. For those wanting to walk the red carpet at third edition of the biggest fashion show in the World, there are a number of ways to impress.
The Morning Urban category showcases laidback weekend morning looks, as well as work outfits. With an emphasis on andro-chique from the 90′s to the minimalism and soberness of clean lines, cloakroom uniforms, work wear, perfect cuts and unisexual attire, the morning look is all about utilitarian form.
The Tea Party aesthetic pays homage to an aristo-rock style with just a hint of dandy eccentric, and a whiff of baroque with flamboyant patterns. The ensemble could include a contrast of materials, with brocade, velvet and embroidery making an appearance. Cocktail Time will celebrate the joyousness of the late sixties, with flamboyant feminine appeal.
The Birds of the Night aesthetic is meant to celebrate the poetic and possibly the gothic, paying tribute to B-film gumshoes, Hitchcock heroes, and the film noir. Leather meets lace, fishnets and feathers for a dark, possibly savage ensemble that is still undeniably classy and understated.
