Capital Marketing Chairman, Mr Manoj Bojwani, commented “We are delighted to see that our continued investment in the growth and development of the event on behalf of the industry is being recognised by leading designers around the region through participation.”

Under the direction of recently-appointed and internationally-experienced Creative Director, Mr Simon P Lock, the event has undergone a number of major changes and is now set to play a more important role on the international fashion week circuit, following the major fashion weeks of London, New York, Milan and Paris.

A number of new initiatives will be unveiled at this season’s event, including a complete redesign of the event venue that will see the introduction of two new exciting spaces for designers to showcase their collections. The DFW Gallery will house innovative designer installations and private designer suites, and the DFW Fashion Theatre, as a state of the art collection showroom, will allow much more creative flexibility for designers to present their collections on the catwalk.

Under Simon’s direction an international team of directors and producers have been commissioned to assist designers in presenting their collections to industry delegates and invited designer guests. For the first time, DFW will also be flying in a group of international catwalk models to join locally cast models.

Simon said “Myself and my team bring years of experience of working on fashion weeks around the world, and for some of the most important international designers. To be invited to now work with these amazing and inspiring designers from the UAE and Middle East is a great honour. My hope is that our experience, combined with the innovation, creativity and tradition of the Dubai Fashion Week designers, will help to portray a new vision for the event that will be recognised around the region and around the world.”

“Dubai Fashion Week will remain unique in the fact that it showcases ready to wear designers, haute couture designers, as well as designers of Abayas. This ensures the event plays a strategically important role for the industry around the region with invited guests including media, fashion retail buyers as well as private clientele, depending on the focus of the designer” he added.

A number of changes have also been made to the official schedule that will for the first time see the introduction of an Opening Ceremony for the event, to be held on Wednesday October 19th. This red carpet event will include all designers participating in DFW and will be a spectacular celebration of the innovation, creativity and the culture of fashion design in the Middle East, presented in a way that only Dubai can. Following the five days of scheduled collection shows and exhibitions the event will then conclude on the evening of Monday October 24th with a global charity initiative, held in Dubai for the first time, and involving leading international and Middle Eastern designers.
