Gucci latest Spring Summer 2012 collection, named HARD DÉCO as a combo of Art déco and Hard decor, is magnificent in my opining.
Gucci somehow always fails to disappoint me and here’s how Creative Director Frida Gianini explains the collection and vision behind it:
“I wanted to explore an optical side of femininity by creating a sculptural glamour for the Gucci woman fusing elements from our DNA, from design history, from photography – making them current with a strong sense of personality. Louise Brookes and Nancy Cunard in the images of Man Ray. The opulence of the era of hedonism. Mirror embroidery recalling the skyscrapers of a metropolis. Artisanal workings with 3D effects.”

MOVIE MUST SEE: God Save My Shoes
Two nights ago on Wednesday September 7th, “God Save My Shoes” was premiered at The Paris Theater in New York under sponsorship of The Outnet.com
“God Save My Shoes” is the first documentary film to explore the intimate relationship women have with their shoes.
To understand how shoes have come to hold such a pivotal place in pop culture, sexuality and women’s lives, God Save my Shoes turned to many of those who play a role in the global shoe phenomenon: Extreme shoe lovers, fashion historians and editors, psychologists, sex experts, shoe fetishists, and star designers.
Set on a quest to decipher—from a psychological, sociological, historical, cultural, and erotic perspective – the fiery emotions that shoes exert on most women (and on quite some men), God Save my Shoes went from New York to Los Angeles, Paris to Milan, Toronto and Florence to interview extreme shoe collectors, everyday women, such celebrities as burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese, Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, Paris opera ballerina Marie-Agnès Gillot, and Baroness Von Neumann. We also turned to fashion historian Valerie Steele of the FIT in New York, Toronto museum curator Elizabeth Semmelhack, women’s marketing expert Mary Lou Quinlan, industry mogul Vincent Camuto, Filipa Fino of Vogue USA, Caroline de Fayet of ELLE magazine, Moulin Rouge dancers, shoe fetishists, and such designers as Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Walter Steiger, Pierre Hardy, Bruno Frisoni, Vivienne Westwood, Robert Clergerie… all those that play a role in the ubiquitous shoe phenomenon!
The Premiere was followed by an invitation-only after party, which took place at LAVO, one of NY’s hottest clubs. Flats were not allowed at the party! Unfortunately I was unable to attend…
