So after my (all over too quickly) holiday to Majorca which, by the way, was utterly relaxing albeit a little bit more rainy then I would have liked, I returned to home shores and was quickly snapped up by my friend Harriet who told me we ‘simply must pay a visit to this local festival’ that was happening near by. Whilst I’m hardly a long limbed bronzed goddess (I’m rather short limbed in fact and pretty much pasty white most of the time) I thought armed with my slight Spanish tan I could pull off some boho – chic shorts. In light of this I rummaged through my wardrobe for other festival appropriate wear which got me thinking about festival trends.
Living out in Dubai you lot all have the distinct advantage of being able to wear a mere amount of clothes with a 99% chance of it staying gloriously sunny, but since the summer lends itself to such a variety of different festivals all over the world, here’s my little guide to festival dressing, whatever the festival…
The Film festival
Film festival dressing calls for a sundress and blazer pairing, teamed with some sky high wedges and ultra cool sunnies. I like to accessorize this look with a mega glitzy clutch, and sun hat (the bigger the better, it’s the theatre darling!)
The Music festival
The summer music festival is a tough one as they usually take place in temperamental weather conditions and more often than not require sleeping in a tent. For this look I usually go for a denim shorts – long socks combo with some classic hunters in black or navy. A Barbour wax jacket always looks effortless cool and is useful if the weather takes a turn for the worst.
The Beach festival
There is nothing better than a beach festival, whether you are lucky enough to be partying it up in Ibiza, or late afternoon sunning it a Sandance, a beach location is the perfect place to do casual chic. Team a cute bikini, in a bright colour, with a floaty cover-up and some glittery statement jewellery and you’re on to a winner. For this kind of festival sandals or flip flops are a must, heels just don’t work on sand and this includes wedges!
