These shoes were part of Dutch fashion designer Iris Van Herpen‘s Women’s Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture fashion collection presented in Paris last month. They’re made in collaboration with United Nude, again and named ”Fang shoes“.

Apparently taking inspiration from the classic sea monster movie 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the young designer’s collection also featured a dress that looked like a cluster of giant sea urchins, a scaled mini dress and a shiny, sting ray-like gown.

Not surprisingly, Van Herpen‘s designs have been worn by eccentric Icelandic performer Bjork and Lady Gaga.

Loved how clutches were set in frames and mounted on the wall

Very nice selection of photographs, illustrating life in 1940′s of Cairo and Beirut, was chosen as a main motif for this collection named “Memory Lane” .

All pieces are designed by the brand Spice and made in Lebanon with a mission to remind us of this valuable heritage. Prices range from AED 185 for a wallet to AED 770 for the most expensive clutch which is not a lot to pay for something so special and unique.

The event took place at O’de Rose, the cutest Arabic themed boutique I have ever seen and I wonder why wasn’t I aware of it’s existence much before?! It is located in a villa number 999 on Al Wasl Road in Dubai and it is a true treasury of colorful Arabic style goodies from clothing, jewelry, accessories, house-ware, furniture, pillows etc.

The atmosphere was amazing with live music, candles, canapes, fresh juices and sweets. I must thank dear Amir for the invitation and great fun we had.

Last Saturday my dear friend Zorana, who now lives and works in Doha, attended celebration of the Toujouri store opening on shoeRA behalf.

Toujouri, Qatar based fashion brand, had their flagship boutique designed by internationally acclaimed architect Peter Marino, who has designed iconic stores for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dior worldwide. This was another reason not to miss the event (both Zorana and I are architects, as you may know

The store is an aesthetic gallery representation of Toujouri’s literal translation – “treasure chest”, as the PR guys like to say. I personally like boutique interior design – materials, lighting and “woven” feature wall. Nice.

Spring Summer 2012 collection, designed by talented Lama El Moatassem, was presented at this occasion too.

This time Marilyn was one of the inspirations for the “Reliving Legends” themed photoshoot of the well known fashion glossy - IN Magazine, starring famous Arab Pop Superstar Haifa Wehbe.  Aside photos she gives her frankest, most personal interview to date.

IN Magazine is a quarterly fashion publication that strives to include everything that is edgy, daring and glamorous; Both in terms of no-holds-barred editorial content, along with out of the box photography and fashion spreads. This issue is celebrating their second year in the market and Marilyn photo will be the first cover for 2012.

Watch this space as more image releases are to follow in the forthcoming days, which will reach a crescendo on February 1^st 2012 where the issue will be unveiled during the official launch party at Armani/Privé club to an exclusive audience.

Yesterday, 25th January 2012, KARL – the new modern and accessible line from the house of Karl Lagerfeld was launched in partnership with online retailer NET-A-PORTER.

NET-A-PORTER will be offering over 70 different pieces from the collection including draped jersey dresses, classic pants, sweatshirts, skirts, shirts, dresses, T-shirts, shoes and bags. Channeling Lagerfeld’s distinct aesthetic, the color palette is predominantly black and white with a rock ‘n’ roll edge. Prices for the collection start at £20/ €19/ $35/ aed 115 for a canvas bag.
