The swinging 60’s make a bold return with a modern twist as rich hues, mini A-line skirts and ankle boots. High necklines and graphic prints are typical of the era, giving retro flair to the new Dorothy Perkins Fall collection.
Layering is key, the cocoon cropped suede and retro zip-through boxy sheepskin jackets are must-have seasonal styles. Not sure how these cozy, warm coats would be applied in Dubai weather, but you can surely wear one in the mall since air-conditioning is set to “sub-zero” temperatures.
The 60’s theme colours are a mixture of muted neutrals with rich tones – from caramel, stone and tan neutrals to midnight, cobalt, burnt orange and sunshine yellow. Blouses are romantic with exaggerated blouson sleeves. Tailoring is balanced out by the florals, frills and femininity.
This season, boots are here to stay – be it long, black, classic or lace up. They are key for both trends. Animal print is making a comeback too – in particular the snakeskin trend, with details found on both chunky winter boots and the platform Mary Jane.
Bags are maxi in size, whether faux Mongolian fur or with zebra pony skin details.
If you were shopping Dorothy Perkins before you will notice pleasant change in style, material quality and detailing.
