SHOE ART: Melissa shoes by Zaha Hadid Architects

Posted at 12:00 pm in Shoes by shoeRA . 1 comments

Here are photos of the moulded plastic shoes Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher designed for Brazilian brand Melissa.

The design engages with the ?uid organic contours of the body. The concept addresses perception of wearing the shoe in motion rather than a static display on a shopping window. The shoes emerge from the ground and climb up the foot and leg with a soft elegant movement. The plastic organic quality of the choreography adheres to the skin.

Advanced computational modeling allowed development of the product. The ?uidity of the design was a perfect match with Melissa’s plastic injection mould technology, generating great synergy between the teams. The collaboration embodies the values of the brand creating and exciting product that is fun and new.
